Blackpool Tourist Information
Blackpool Sandcastle WaterworldEnjoy a tropical atmosphere all year round at the Sandcastle Waterworld situated opposite Blackpool Pleasure Beach on South Promenade. The water is always warm at this swimming paradise.
There are swirling slides, flumes and tubes to ensure you will enjoy every minute. If you prefer to simply sit and watch there are plenty of 'sun spots' alongside the four pool areas. For those of you who don't want to get wet there are some quality attractions on the dry side.
Family and ChildrenThere are the adventure playground areas for the children, the well known Garden bar and cafe plus entertainment most days and nights on Castaways Caribbean Island.
There are amusements, vending machines and cafes situated throughout the complex. There are also changing rooms, toilets, baby changing facilities, first aid stations, a sauna, fast tan sunbeds (subject to separate entrance fee) and a lost children room. Disabled facilities are available within the complex.
For the children there is an entertainment area in high season with a children's entertainer, karaoke, limbo competitions, quizzes and so on. It is worth noting that when in the pool children should be accompanied by a responsible adult and the play areas can be best enjoyed when wearing shoes and clothes (not just swimsuits).
SwimmingFor swimmers there are a number of different options. There is Typhoon Lagoon which slopes down to 1.8m, although non-swimmers and arm band users are not allowed in the deep end. Twice an hour this lagoon turns into a wave pool (signalled by a large honk).
The other pool, Sleepy Lagoon, has baby slides, waterfalls and a mini Jacuzzi. This pool goes up to 2 m deep and there is a small area where diving is allowed.
There are 4 main chutes in the complex – The Gentle Giants, The Barracuda and the Serpent Slides are a guarantee that you will have a spectacular day. The Treetops water chutes add to your water fun.
The Caribbean Storm Treehouse is a fantastic feature at the UK's premier waterpark which includes the Whirlwind, the Great White Whipper and the Hydro Storm which lets loose at regular intervals. Here you will experience over 35 interactive fun features such as water cannons, magic jets, multi slides and water blasters.
SafetySafety and cleanliness are high on the agenda at the Sandcastle Waterworld with excellent changing facilities and fully qualified lifeguards on duty at all times.
It is worth noting that no glass is allowed here, including baby food jars. When you go into the complex you will be given a leaflet that includes a map of the Sandcastle, safety information, including pool depths and pool 'rules'. This means you can plan your time effectively and won't miss a thing.
AccessibilityThe Sandcastle Waterworld is accessible friendly. If you require assistance due to mobility difficulties or other disabilities all lifeguards are fully trained with a National Pool Lifeguard Qualification including specialist activities.
There is a passenger lift to a modified changing room with additional space to allow more mobility. Ramps to the pool hall, terraces and poolside plus wide aisles to other areas of the complex, allow ease of access for swimmers and non-swimmers alike. Accessible toilets are positioned throughout the complex.
MiscellaneousThere is a Swim Shop in the complex where you can buy a variety of souvenirs from your day out. You can even buy swimsuits if you have forgotten your own. There is also the option to hire costumes if you don't need an additional one.
If you have a special occasion to celebrate the Sandcastle Waterworld is an excellent option. From group and party discounts to Christmas Parties this venue is the ideal place for small and large scale events.
Baby changing facilities, bottle and baby food warming is available at all catering outlets.
